The Leesburg Dentists take your health and our staff’s health seriously. Click below to learn more about our sterilization processes, air quality and water safety. You might find it interesting that these were almost all in place prior to Covid.
Sterilizing And Disinfection
The instruments that are used in our practice undergo the following after every use. The instruments are first cleaned and disinfected using an ultrasonic cleaner. After this process is completed, the instruments are bagged or placed in cassettes and are sterilized using an autoclave or statim heat sterilizer. These machines are tested regularly to ensure proper sterilization and the bags have indicators that show they completed the heat sterilization. Surfaces that cannot fit into a sterilizer are disinfected with hospital-grade disinfectants. Also, when possible, such as the digital radiograph sensor which is placed in the mouth, we use a disposable plastic sleeve as a barrier. The sleeves don’t taste good and can be uncomfortable for some, but are used for your safety.
Air Quality
Long before Covid 19 existed, The Leesburg Dentists were concerned about the air quality in the office for our patients and staff. The air in our office goes through a HEP filter and then passes through ultraviolet light in order to remove allergens and harmful particles. With the arrival of the SARS-Cov-2 virus (cause of Covid 19) an Ionizer was added to our H-Vac system to further ensure removal of bacterial/viral particles and odors. In addition to what you can’t see, there are room filters/purifiers scattered through the office for additional cleansing.
Water Quality
Water is used constantly in a dental office. To ensure the quality of the water (Town of Leesburg), the water throughout our office is filtered 3 times before passing through an ultraviolet light purifying system. This is to help decrease the possibility of biofilms forming in the water lines and to ensure the quality of water used in treatment. The Leesburg Dentists also have an amalgam separator in our vacuum system in order to prevent the old silver mercury fillings from entering the public sewer system. This allows us to properly dispose of those unwanted and unsafe elements in an environmentally conscious way.
