The instruments that our used in our practice under the following after every use. The instruments are first cleaned and disinfected using an ultrasonic cleaner. After this process is completed, the instruments are bagged or placed in cassettes and are sterilized using an autoclave or static heat sterilizer. These machines are tested regularly to ensure proper sterilization and the bags have indicators that show they completed the heat sterilization. Surfaces that cannot fit into a sterilizer are disinfected with hospital grade disinfectants. Also, when possible, such as the digital radiograph sensor which is placed in the mouth, we use a disposable plastic sleeve as a barrier. The sleeves don’t taste good and can be uncomfortable for some, but are used for your safety
