Restorative Dentistry

Teeth with sufficient supporting tooth structure that have decay or are chipped or have minor cracks are restored with composite material (white fillings). If the remaining tooth structure is too weak to hold a filling or there is a significant crack, a crown will be advised. Most crowns at the The Leesburg Dentists are now done in zirconium for strength, aesthetics and biocompatibility. We do still use porcelain and gold at times, and there are times where an inlay or onlay may be recommended.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Everyone notices a nice healthy beautiful smile. The Leesburg Dentists provide Invisalign to correct crowding and alignment issues. For stained teeth, we do in office as well as at home bleaching to make your smile the brightest it can be. In cases of unbleachable or poorly shaped teeth, or teeth that have just be worn significantly, porcelain veneers, composite bonding or crowns may be recommended in order produce that youthful bright smile you have always wanted. Flat yellowed worn teeth ages a smile, veneers and crowns can give you that look you previously had or just always wanted.

Sedation Dentistry

The Leesburg Dentists offer ways to help those that have always struggled with dental appointments. We offer nitrous oxide, laughing gas as well as I.V. conscious sedation. If needed we will prescribe a pre-treatment relaxer such as valium or Xanax. Patients who would like either, I.V. or pre-medication will require a driver to get them to and from the appointment.

Oral Surgery

The Dental Implant is the closest thing a real tooth that modern dentistry has to offer for a lost tooth or teeth. Basically a dental implant is an artificial titanium root to which we attach a crown.

The Leesburg Dentists do remove teeth here at the office. In most cases we do offer the removal of third molars or wisdom teeth. In some cases an Oral Surgeon is recommended as the best treatment for your situation.

Biopsies of suspicious lesions are also preformed in the office.

TMJ / Facial Aesthetics

Many individuals grind or clench their teeth. This unconscious habit causes extreme stress on teeth and can lead to excessive wear, functional issues, fractured teeth and in some instances root fractures where the tooth is no longer savable and must be removed. Also, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) damage can occur. Muscular pain and headaches/ear aches are often a sign as well of someone who grinds or clenches. A mouth guard can help protect your teeth from these damaging forces and help protect supporting structures. The guard does not typically stop the patient from their para-functional habit. The guard is hard, yet softer than teeth, and therefore the grinder/clencher wears the guard out, not the teeth.

A newer therapy is now available for extreme cases. Botox injections into the muscles of mastication are used to decrease the force produced by the muscles.

Filler (Hyaluronic Acid) and Botox can also be used to enhance and freshen the look of your lips and surrounding structures of the mouth. Botox reduces muscle contraction thereby decreasing wrinkles. Loss of natural body fat and collagen also leads to wrinkles and a loss of facial volume. Filler products aid in replacing natural volume giving a refreshed more youthful look to go along with that healthy smile. For those who have never had full lips, the filler now gives them the lips they have always wanted, framing and accenting that attractive smile.

Endodontics/Root Canals

Teeth can need a root canal for several different reasons. If the tooth is acutely infected such as an abscess, or chronically inflamed (irreversible pulpitis) or has become necrotic (died) usually due to some trauma at an earlier time. There are cases where we will refer out to a board certified Endodontist for treatment.

Periodontics

Periodontal Disease is a leading cause of adult tooth loss. Calculus (tartar), plaque (bacterial colonies) and toxins accumulate around and under the gum. Your immune system recognizes these foreign invaders and reacts to them cause red, easily bleeding gums, loss of gingival attachment to tooth structure, and eventual bone loss around the teeth. Initial treatment for periodontal disease is root planning (deep cleaning). In order to do a thorough job, the area is often anesthetized for patient comfort.

When gum tissue has receded to the point that there is minimal attached gingiva connected around the tooth, an autogenous graft, (tissue coming from the patient themselves), can be done to “put back” some of the tissue that has been lost. This has both functional and cosmetic implications.

Gingival re-contouring and shaping can be recommended to give your smile symmetry. Gingival and tooth symmetry is important when creating that cosmetic beautiful smile.
